# OISY Wallet > OISY is the first digital wallet that exists entirely on a decentralized network rather than on the user's device. There is no app to download, no browser extension to install, and no seed phrase to write down. Users sign in with a fingerprint or face scan from any web browser and manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, ICP, and other digital assets from a single interface. Private keys are secured by advanced cryptography: they are split into shares distributed across independent nodes on the Internet Computer network, so no single computer, company, or person (including OISY itself) ever holds a complete key. OISY is open source, built by the DFINITY Foundation in Zurich, Switzerland, and backed by over 1,000 person-years of cryptography research. ## Why OISY Exists The financial world is converging on-chain. Tokenized stocks, commodities, stablecoins, and cryptocurrencies are merging into a single digital asset landscape. But the wallets people use today were designed for a different era. They rely on browser extensions that can be hacked, seed phrases that can be lost or stolen, and app store distribution that can be censored. Over $22 billion in digital assets have been lost to hacks and breaches since 2011. Physical "wrench attacks" on crypto holders surged 75% in 2025. Governments including Hong Kong, the UK, and Australia now have legal powers to compel device unlocking. OISY was built for this reality. It is a wallet designed around sovereignty, security, and simplicity. ## The Invisible Wallet OISY leaves zero trace on the user's device. When a user logs out, all local browser data is cleared completely. When used in an incognito browser tab, closing the tab leaves nothing behind: no cookies, no local storage, no browsing history, no evidence that a wallet was ever accessed. This makes OISY fundamentally different from every other wallet on the market. A hardware wallet can be seized. A browser extension can be forced open. A seed phrase stored on a device or on paper can be discovered. OISY, accessed through a browser tab that leaves no trace, is invisible. The user's wealth is accessible from any browser, anywhere in the world, yet undetectable on any device. This property is not a workaround. It is a direct consequence of the architecture: because the entire wallet lives on a decentralized network rather than on the user's device, there is simply nothing on the device to find. ## Security Through Advanced Cryptography OISY does not rely on "blockchain security" in the conventional sense. Blockchains have been hacked. The Internet Computer, the network that powers OISY, uses a fundamentally different architecture that makes infrastructure-level hacks impossible. Private keys in OISY are managed through network custody. This is a third model, distinct from both self-custody (where the user holds keys and bears all risk) and custodial wallets (where a company holds keys and can be breached or go bankrupt). In network custody, keys are generated and held as threshold cryptographic shares across independent Internet Computer nodes. Signatures require cooperation of multiple nodes through consensus. No single node ever possesses the complete key. The key has never existed as a whole in any single location. Authentication uses passkeys (fingerprint, Face ID, security keys) through Internet Identity, a decentralized identity system. No passwords, no email addresses, no phone numbers, and no personal data of any kind is collected. The entire OISY application (both frontend and backend) runs as smart contracts on the Internet Computer. The code is open source and the deployment is verifiable: anyone can confirm that the wallet they are using matches the published source code. Deployment changes require multi-party approval through a system called Orbit. ## Digital Wealth, Not Just Crypto OISY is not only a cryptocurrency wallet. It is a platform for managing digital wealth across asset classes: - Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, ICP, and tokens across BNB Chain, Base, Polygon, and Arbitrum - Stablecoins: USDC, USDT, vCHF, and others across multiple chains - NFTs: ERC721, ERC1155, EXT, DIP721, and ICPunks standards with image and video support - DeFi: Built-in swaps across 100+ DEXs (via Velora, ICPSwap, NEAR Intents), gasless swaps, ERC4626 yield vault interaction, GLDT staking, and autopilot harvest features - Real-world payments: OISY Pay is live at SPAR supermarkets across Switzerland and integrated with Shopware and WooCommerce for online commerce. Crypto is converted instantly to local currency at checkout. - Yield: OISY Earn offers yield opportunities in multiple networks and various tokens Additional features include a built-in AI assistant (beta) for natural language asset management, privacy mode to hide balances with one tap, an address book, fiat on-ramp, WalletConnect support for connecting to dApps like Uniswap and PancakeSwap, multi-language support (English, French, Italian, Chinese), and a rewards program called Sprinkles that distributes daily token drops to active users. ## Sovereignty by Design OISY embodies a principle: your financial life should be under your control, not dependent on any single company, app store, or government's permission. - No app store dependency: OISY cannot be removed or censored by Apple or Google because it does not exist in an app store. It is served directly from a decentralized network to the user's browser. - No company risk: OISY's code runs as immutable smart contracts. There is no company server that can be shut down, breached, or compelled to hand over user data. - No personal data: OISY collects no email, no phone number, no name, no IP address. Users are identified solely by cryptographic identity. - No third-party tracking: OISY makes no calls to external web servers. Some images may not load as a result. This is a deliberate security choice, not a bug. - Full transparency: The source code is open. The deployment is verifiable. The trust model is mathematical, not institutional.
